When I first attempted to redeem the voucher, we chose a trip to Jamaica. I was told that I could not have the dates that I wanted. I was offered alternative dates and told that I would have to pay $325 out of the $581 total. This, I was told, was due to taxes and fees. I decided not to book that flight since the dates were not going to work with our vacation plans anyway.
I finally found some flights that we could take at prices that were not too painful. My voucher stated that it expired on 8/13 so I went online and tried to book my flights on the last day - 8/13. The website alerted me that my voucher was already expired! I called the number provided and got a call center in some foreign land. The first girl I talked to told me that my voucher had expired the day before - 8/12. My voucher clearly had 8/13 written on it, but in the "system" they had entered the previous day! SHADY!!!
I offered to fax my voucher to her to show the expiration date. I was informed that she did not have access to a fax machine and that she didn't have the authority to change the expiration date anyway. I requested to speak to a supervisor. She put me on hold until I was disconnected.
I called back, got another person from some foreign land and was again told that he could do nothing for me. Again, I asked for a supervisor and was AGAIN put on hold until I was disconnected.
I can only stress to everyone out there; DO NOT FLY ON SPIRIT! If you are willing to put up with poor service in exchange for low fares; DO NOT VOLUNTEER FOR A LATER FLIGHT! Well at least if you do, you will not be going into it blindly. Your voucher is not "free" and they will lie to you about the expiration, so book right away!
Good Luck! Or just fly Delta instead :-)
